today is just finalizing the theory report and printing it out. and making sure that we have handed in everything needed for the project, including the content page and highlighting the amendments :)

so what did i contribute to the project and what did i learnt? its stated from the second post onwards and in this post.
when our database got problem and when we copied over our database to other computers, we still met the same problem, i nearly want to give up. when we seeked help from the lab technician quite late, and missed out on the project consultation session, i felt that it was almost impossible to complete the project on time.

but with my group mates' help, i persevered through late nights and we managed to complete the project. i learnt that it is possible to complete the assignment given to us even if there is only a small amount of time left.
i also learnt to put in the best i can do for the project as this project requires a lot of effort by various group members.

nevertheless, cas project is over!! :P
i am thankful that i have wonderful groupmates to be able to answer my queries as i am unsure about many areas of the project. :) and also for the time spent together to do the project :) all of us contributed a lot to this project :)

got a tough time trying to figure out how to solve the problem of our i&e by product having zero figures. the manual didnt state how to solve this problem. asked quite a lot of my friends how to solve this problem, but did not know how to do so.

it was until when jonathan pressed a cell in the excel document that we figured out how to solve the problem that we faced yesterday. i learnt that we must edit the macros in the excel document so that the figures will show in the i&e by product statement. now, i finally know how to edit the macros by changing the segment codes in the cell. all along i thought it is in the tab!

next up, jonas edited the data entry form by adding in the opening balances. and we printed the reports and the reports are so thick :/

i'm glad that the project is almost done. i felt very much relieved as we chionged these few weeks and lagged seriously behind the rest. :P

tdy we met up to do cas proj and try to complete it.
and i think we progress quite a lot. and the project is almost completed alr :) thanks to my groupmates also for helping me in the project :)

lab 9 is very packed. nearly couldnt find a computer terminal.
the void cheques part is quite challenging. but with help from some of my friends and coursemates, we managed to figure it out.
in the end, we managed to finish the void cheques, adjustment entries and recurring entries in lab 9 :)
we then moved over to lab 8 and continued on the data entry forms as we got to type in the adjustment entries in the forms. we typed it in because we felt it is easier than write on the form.
and we also managed to complete it as well! :)

processed the recurring entries and all the other batches. and we met a problem, which is that the figures on the i&e by product is zero. :/

i learnt that i shouldnt be too focussed on the number of entries that we had done, but on whether we have done correctly. the number of entries doesnt matter a lot.

recently these few days of doing proj is doing up of data entry form and editing it. We did up the adjusting entries and added recurring entries.
now the problem is that we cant figure out some of the recurring entries. :/

checklist:
-recurring entries (almost there)

-data entry form (halfway there, need edit)

-void cheques (havent done)
-year end closing (havent done)
-theory report (havent done)

the deadline is this fri, and time is very tight. its running out already, so we really need to get a lot of things done up by thurs :)

met up for cas proj again and this time round, we corrected a recurring entry and did the data entry forms, though havent completed yet.

cas project after sch tdy.
finally felt as if a huge load is off my back.
last fri, we cannot do the payments part of ap.
today we realised our ap and ar opening balances are wrong and we redo the opening balances, and after redo-ing the balances, we managed to get the figure right. and so, we managed to finish the payments and the receipts! woohoo :D

we sort of figured out 2 recurring entries but we are not sure of one of them yet.

so, we finished ar and ap.
we are left with all these before the whole proj will be completed:
-recurring entries(halfway done)
-adjustment entries
-year end entries
-void cheques
-data entry forms
-theory part of the cas proj

our ar and ap opening balances are wrong, so i think we gotta re-do it on mon. cos when we are doing the payments part after processing the opening bal, invoices and cr notes batches, the figure in the invoices doesnt tally with the figure in the payments shown in the book.

my groupmates managed to think of a unique transaction. :)

cas proj meeting today after sch at 4 pm. i, with my group mates' help, enter into the invoices and the credit notes into the ap module.

hope tomorrow that we can come up with a unique transaction, complete the data entry form and complete the payments and receipts part of the project.

just some reflections today (:

supposed to do proj tdy, but in the end we didnt. found out that something is wrong with our database and the computer.

called for the technician and it took up almost the whole lesson to try to get it fixed. and i went to lab9 after 5 pm to see how's the progress. the technician managed to get it fixed. :)

but after all these things i learnt that we must delete the projco and projdb in the data folder before copying our database over, if not our database is not purely our work. i think thats why recently we keep having this problem of not getting the right database with batches completed and processed that we never touched and attempted before.

also learnt that we should not leave things to do at the last minute especially for projects, if not we will rush and we will not produce quality work. also, at the last minute, it is so much harder to complete the project(especially this), as there are so many things to do.

lastly, we can check and see if there is something wrong with the database if the database size suddenly become very big, and if there are so many projco and projdb folders.

forgot to blog about the days we did cas project so here's a detailed blogpost on our proj mtgs.

thursday, 18 june
met up for our first project meeting. jonathan joined us later in the lab. we managed to create the accounts, the segment codes, key in opening balances and setting up the bank and tax services. i think its quite a good start with us not being very skilled at accpac.

i forgot whatever things that i learnt when we did the tutorials last time. had to refer quite a lot on the accpac manual. i helped create the segment codes and i slowly manage to recap quite a bit abt accpac :) i also typed the opening balances into the gl system.

friday,19 june
still managed to get quite some things done. cos the batch list in gl system keep showing there is the recurring entries, ar and ap batch and we havent did up to the stage. in the end, we managed to get our database. siti left and me and jonathan continued the project by setting up the ap and ar system :) we managed to set up acc sets, billing cycles, acc terms and adding in the acc receivables. took over from where jonathan left when he typed and type the rest of the data into the system and he just read it out for me to type.

i learnt that it is easier to continue the project for my groupmates to be around so that one can read out and the other can just type these things into the system. the rest can check and see if there is any input errors and when my teammate is tired from typing, the rest can just take over from what he/she is doing. in this way, the proj can continue more efficiently. we can also ask each other if we have any doubts of the proj.

monday, 22 june
went to meet for cas proj again, but its later, at 3 pm :) finally. tried 8 computers in lab8 to find the correct database and none worked. we managed to get the correct one, and we did the recurring entries today. altogether we managed to do 7 recurring entries, although there is still some more havent completed yet.

we redoed the recurring entries.

today, 25 june
today i managed to enter the sales transactions of mechanical, equipment and electrical product into the ar systems. followed the accpac manual and entered into the system the sales returns of the product and the receipts from ar.

learnt how to create a receipts batch list and key in the receipts from ar. i also learnt that for sales returns, we create a batch in ar in ar invoice entry but the document type must change to credit notes.
